Claire’s approach to counselling

With training in EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I bring compassion, clarity, and curiosity to each session. I am known for my intuitive, collaborative, and grounding presence, as well as for creating psychological and felt safety in sessions to support clients in addressing both past and present adverse experiences.

My career spans over 20 years across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, including roles in healthcare, the Coast Guard, BC Wildfire Management, frontline work with low-income communities, and advocacy for women in STEAM. I have worked with individuals facing stress, trauma, relational struggles, substance use, and chronic illness and injury. Blending systems thinking and organizational change with my training and experience in counselling, I take a collaborative, human-centered, and existential approach to my work with clients.

I bring a range of perspectives from my professional journey into my practice, including fieldwork, experience in paramilitary environments, frontline work with marginalized communities, community development projects, a history of competitive sports, and over 10 years in the consulting and technology sector. This lived insight allows me to deeply support those navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, and identity-based stress—both personally and within workplace systems.

Claire’s Story

Over the past twenty-five years, I have worked across many business areas and with people from diverse walks of life and at various levels within organizations. While some of this time involves directly working with people in a mental wellness capacity, the majority of it focused on coaching, guiding, advising, mentoring, and, in some cases, leading people. Mental Health and wellness span across all facets of life and can therefore impact people in all settings. A key component of my life's work now is to support people in their healing journey, with a focus on helping them integrate, set down, learn from, and carry with greater ease some of the life-changing and altering experiences they have had to navigate. Being able to regulate emotion and the nervous system through tools, training, and trauma processing, I believe, can help people lead more fulfilling lives, impacting not only clients but also those in their circles. This, for me, is central to why I have stepped into the role of a healer, a collaborative EMDR trained therapist with existential foundations.
