Don't see your insurer? That doesn't mean you don't have coverage. You can pay at your session and submit your receipt to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
What your plan pays depends on your specific coverage, so it's worth confirming the details with your insurer before your first session.
Check your coverage first
Plans vary a lot. Before your first session, ask your insurer:
Does my plan cover counselling or psychotherapy, and for which counsellor credentials?
How much does it pay per session, and what is the yearly maximum?
Is there a deductible or co-pay?
Do I need a doctor's referral?
Your benefits booklet or online member portal may have the answers too.
Other ways to cover the cost
Direct billing is one option among several. Our Choose What You Pay tiers let you pick a rate that fits your budget. If your counselling is connected to a car accident or a crime, see ICBC counselling and CVAP counselling.
We also work with partners including the First Nations Health Authority, Veterans Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Contact us to ask about free or subsidized counselling.
