Jenni’s Approach to Counselling

Jenni approaches counselling the same way she approaches life: by meeting people in our shared humanity, with authenticity, togetherness, and without judgment. She believes meaningful change begins in a space where you feel seen, understood, and not alone.

Her work is grounded in a bio-psycho-social perspective, meaning she sees personal challenges not as isolated problems, but as part of a larger web of life experiences, relationships, and systems. Drawing on her background as both a Social Worker and Counsellor in community and non-profit settings, she brings a deep understanding of the many layers that shape our lives.
Jenni meets you exactly where you are. She honours that life is a journey, one that includes both struggle and growth, and views every stage as holding valuable insight into who you are and where you’re going.

In your work together, she will gently guide you to slow down and reconnect with yourself, your thoughts, emotions, fears, dreams, and your body. Using body-based approaches, Jenni helps you explore how your experiences are held within you, and supports you in building a more compassionate, grounded relationship with your body.

At the heart of her work is the belief that healing is about wholeness, integrating mind, body, and spirit. As you come back into connection with yourself, you create space not only for personal healing, but for a more meaningful and connected way of living.

My Story

I was born on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg, Dene, Cree, Dakota, and Métis Nations, in what is now known as Winnipeg, Manitoba. I come from French Catholic and German Mennonite ancestry, and was raised in a complex, neurodiverse family as the youngest of four daughters. My early life held both deep love and overwhelming challenges, experiences that shaped how I understand resilience, connection, and the impact of our environments.
As a teenager and young adult, I searched for freedom from the pain I carried, including the loss of my father. That search led me across different parts of the world, and at times, into ways of coping that distanced me from myself. While escapism was part of that chapter, so was a deep curiosity. My travels offered me a profound appreciation for humanity, cultural perspectives, and the powerful role that belief can play in both personal and collective transformation.

At 24, I moved to Vancouver Island, where my healing journey began with greater intention. A pivotal experience with the plant medicine ibogaine marked a turning point in my life, one that shifted me from surviving toward reconnecting with who I truly am. This experience sparked a lasting commitment to trauma healing and a deep respect for the wisdom of plant medicines, which I continue to approach with care, integration, and reverence.

My passion for understanding people and systems led me to complete a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Victoria, followed by a Master of Social Work at the University of British Columbia. Alongside my academic work, I’ve pursued training in yoga, land-based learning, and fine arts, practices that continue to nourish both my personal life and my approach to healing.
More recently, becoming a mother has been one of the most profound transformations of my life. It has brought me into deep contact with both my light and my shadow, and has reshaped my relationship to life itself. This experience has expanded my path, deepening my commitment to supporting other mothers as they navigate the complexities and depth of their own journeys.
