My Approach

I approach counselling from a collaborative, compassionate, and client-centred perspective. I don't believe there is one approach that fits every person. Each of us brings our own history, relationships, strengths, challenges, and ways of understanding the world into the counselling room.

When working with me, you can expect a space that is warm, genuine, and non-judgmental. I want to understand not only what is difficult for you right now, but also the experiences and patterns that may be contributing to how you are feeling.

My approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based therapies while adapting our work to your individual needs and goals. Together, we may explore thoughts and patterns that are keeping you stuck, build practical strategies for coping with difficult emotions or circumstances, identify existing strengths, and work toward meaningful and realistic change.

Most importantly, I see counselling as something we do together. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, support, and sometimes a different perspective.

My Story

Before beginning my journey into counselling, I spent 26 years working as a Registered Nurse. Much of my career has focused on geriatrics and supporting older adults and their families, which has given me the privilege of being alongside people during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of their lives.

Over the years, I came to recognize that some of the most important parts of my work happened in the conversations surrounding medical care, listening to someone's fears, supporting a family struggling with change, sitting with grief and uncertainty, or helping someone navigate a chapter of life they never expected to face.

My own life experiences have also taught me that growth is rarely a straight line. Life can bring unexpected changes, losses, difficult relationships, new beginnings, and moments when we have to reconsider who we are and what we want moving forward. These experiences have strengthened my belief in people's capacity for resilience and change, while also teaching me the importance of having a safe place to be heard when life feels difficult.

Moving into counselling feels like a natural extension of the work I have valued throughout my nursing career: connecting with people, understanding their stories, and supporting them through change.
