My Approach
I believe that people are shaped by their experiences, relationships, and environments, and that many of the ways we cope today developed for very understandable reasons. My role is not to judge those patterns, but to help you understand them with curiosity and compassion.
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered, and attachment-informed practice. I draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy and other evidence-informed approaches to explore emotions, relationships, coping patterns, and the experiences that may be influencing how you see yourself and the world around you.
I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and understood. Counselling can provide a space to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and explore what you may need moving forward. We will work collaboratively, with your goals and experiences at the centre of the process.
I also recognize that healing is rarely linear. There may be moments of uncertainty, discomfort, or feeling stuck. Rather than viewing these experiences as failures, I see them as opportunities to develop greater awareness, self-compassion, and new ways of responding.
My goal is to walk alongside you, not to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like, but to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and moving toward the life and relationships that feel meaningful to you.
My story
My practice is grounded in both lived experience and professional experience. As a former youth in care, I have personal experience navigating systems of care and the challenges that can accompany adversity, instability, and finding a sense of belonging. My own healing journey has shaped my understanding of resilience, self-discovery, and the importance of being met with compassion, safety, and without judgment.
Professionally, I have worked alongside youth experiencing mental health and substance use concerns in both abstinence-based treatment programs and low-barrier, drop-in services. My background in healthcare has further strengthened my ability to support individuals navigating complex circumstances while recognizing the whole person beyond a diagnosis or presenting concern.
My lived experience continues to inform my practice while my professional training and ongoing growth allow me to support others with humility, curiosity, and compassion.
