Jennifer Jollymore, RCC

My approach

I will help you navigate life’s toughest moments so you can reconnect with your strength, resilience, & the possibility of a brighter future.

People are never just one thing: not just a diagnosis, not just depressed or anxious, not just an addict, not just one anything. We are beautifully complex, with many different parts with many different needs and desires. My approach is to help you get to know yourself in a new way, a way of radical self-acceptance, so that you can step forward with insight, tools, and self-compassion into the life that you long for. I believe in the importance of building a safe and trusting relationship and using evidence-based techniques to help you heal as well as to discover and achieve your goals. I am holistic in my approach and adapt every session to your unique situation and needs.

I integrate various modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, Solutions Focused therapy, Humanistic therapy, Psychodynamic therapy and Mindfulness therapies.

Together we can work to:

  • Slow down, and turn toward yourself

  • Create space to understand your experiences

  • Generate curiosity, compassion, and kindness towards all parts of yourself

  • Identify obstacles and strategies to overcome them

  • Unburden and transform old wounds into resilience and confidence

  • Reconnect with joy, passion, creativity, wellbeing, and aliveness

  • Build on the strengths that have gotten you this far

  • Learn to listen to and follow your heart and your dreams

Individual Counselling: 1 hour (50 minute)session

My Story

Like many therapists, I became a counsellor to pay forward the compassion and kindness that were shown to me during my times of need. I am a neurodiverse woman with ADHD, a mother, a partner, and a cancer survivor. I have faced experiences of abuse, abandonment, and, at times, overwhelming anxiety. In my youth, to cope with trauma and challenges, I turned to perfectionism, occasional substance misuse, and a need for control as ways to soothe the unpredictable nature of my upbringing. While these strategies served me for a time, they eventually stopped working, prompting me to search for inspiration on how to live life differently.

For a long time, I sought something external that would magically make everything feel better. Occasionally, I would find a strategy or routine that helped temporarily, but I would inevitably return to the same feelings of longing and discontent. I yearned for connection, safety, love, and the freedom to truly be myself. I hoped these things would be given to me, but along the way, I learned that I needed to offer them to myself instead of seeking them from external sources. This transformation became possible when I turned inward, approached myself with curiosity and compassion, and began practicing radical self-care and self-acceptance.

I have always been a seeker and an explorer, engaging in a variety of counselling approaches and retreats over the years. Through this journey, I have learned to let go, to accept myself, and to show compassion to the parts of me that still sometimes feel triggered or upset. I have embraced my uniqueness with kindness and gentleness, replacing criticism and judgment with understanding. None of this growth would have been possible without the inspiring leaders, counsellors, and peers who supported me along the way.
