Meet Our Master's Level Intern Counsellors $35 per session in Victoria, Mill Bay & Online BC

Therapy shouldn't have to wait for a bigger paycheque. Our master’s level intern counsellors offer quality, supervised counselling at $35 a session, with the first session free.

Who are the intern counsellors?

Each of the eight counsellors pictured above is a graduate student completing their practicum in a Master of Counselling or Master of Social Work program. They've been selected from a competitive applicant pool, and are now doing the supervised, hands-on counselling work.

Every session is reviewed by one of our licensed clinicians, so you get a counsellor who's current on modern approaches like CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, backed by someone with years of clinical experience checking their work. Students commonly support clients working through anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship strain, and grief.

What it costs

- First one-hour session: free

- Subsequent sessions:

For comparison, our fully licensed counsellors run $150–$185 a session, and our pre-registration counsellors run $100. The intern tier exists so price never has to be the reason someone puts off getting support.

Locations

Sessions run in office in our Victoria and Mill Bay offices, or online anywhere in BC. If you're not near either location, online sessions carry the same $35 rate and the same free first hour.

Booking

Same-day sessions are often available. Text 1-888-520-9151, book online, or tell us what you're looking for and we'll match you with a counsellor based on your needs, preferences and schedule. If one of the eight above stands out to you, you can also request them directly when you book.

Full pricing details for all three tiers of counsellors can be found here.

A few questions people ask before booking

Is a student counsellor a real counsellor? Yes. They hold the same confidentiality and professionalism standards as our licensed team, and every case gets reviewed by a supervisor.

Can a student handle something serious, like trauma? Often, yes, our interns are trained in trauma-informed approaches. If you're in crisis or working with a complex diagnosis, we may suggest starting with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 counsellor instead, and we'll help you sort that out during your free consultation.

What if it's not the right fit? You can switch counsellors or move up to a licensed clinician at any point. Plenty of clients start at $35 and stay; others use it as a low-cost way to find out if therapy is for them before spending more.
